Day one or should I say 3...

Hooray we made it!!!

So Friday we met up in lovely LA, to park our cars at Maria’s gma’s and fly out of LAX. Sooo highlights of our travel day are as follows:

Almost getting shanked at the Crenshaw Walmart in LA while trying to get Maria some bear pepper spray for the trip.
Trying to squat down with my backpack on and ending up with my arms and feet in the air because the weight of my bag toppled me over.
Maria learning the she needed a visa to Australia, at the ticket counter, bahahaha!
The security outside next to the metal detector asking me why I was laughing at him, he didn’t realize it had nothing to do with him.
Maria shouting out to the security guard “have you ever had the desire to shot someone?”
Stellar Burger King dinner on the floor of the terminal.

But all in all nothing too exciting… Jules and I boarded our 14 hour and 45 minute direct flight to Sydney and Maria took off two hours later with a flight to Brisbane connecting to Sydney.

We all flew Virgin Australia. Super nice. But I slept pretty much nine hours of the flight, only to wake to eat… they really feed you well on planes.

Jules and I touched down 10/3 6am. Picked up our luggage and headed for customs. Julie was so lucky and was picked to have her luggage inspected by hand rather than xray.. you know those 20 year old girls can be a real threat to national security. After some serious inspect and heavy discussion regarding her hair brush, which was inspected by three different officers, she was final permitted to enter the country.

Finally walk out to the airport lobby see some windows, and giddy up it’s pouring! Yeah! We grabbed the airport shuttle to the hostel. So our hostel is in Kings Crossing… here’s how a few websites describe the area

We stuck our bags in baggage check, reapplied deodorant, and proceeded to head out to see the see what Sydney had to offer… but at 9am on a Sunday, there’s not much… So we just walked and walked and walked in the pouring rain and had meat pies, delicious. We eneded up in Hyde Park. Super cool nice little park, would have been better we hadn’t been soaked. We headed back to the hostel to kill some time and wait for Maria to arrive. And she did:) again we headed out for authentic aussie food and ended up at a Coco Cubano. The title of espresso, chocolate, and cocktails reeled us in. Finished, started walking back to the hostel and once again the sky unleashed.

Now it’s 530 and we are getting ready for the night… on the menu tbd but will likely involve glitter, tights, and boots, only the best.
